Complete eye care in Mississauga
EYE EXAM
Seeing 20/20: an eye exam involves more than just reading letters on an eye chart, and even though you may be able to read the 20/20 line, it doesn’t mean your eyes are healthy. A complete eye exam involves a check of your vision as well as an ocular health assessment through the use of various pieces of equipment. At Arora Optometry, we tailor your eye exam to meet your individual needs, as individuals of different age groups and health conditions require different tests. A thorough eye exam can pick up symptomless conditions such as holes and tears in the retina, as well as the more routine diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts. We offer retinal photography service, which allows Dr. Arora to take a “real-time” photograph of the back of your eye. This allows Dr. Arora to more accurately diagnose any conditions as well as allowing her to monitor any existing conditions.

Eye exams for patients with certain medical conditions (ie diabetes)

OHIP still covers annual eye exams for patients between 20-64 with certain medical conditions such as diabetes, or on certain medications such as Tamoxifen or Hydroxychloroquine. Dr. Arora will do a thorough exam to determine if these medications are affecting your eyes.
OCT Imaging
We offer our patients OCT imaging as part of a full, comprehensive eye exam, which allows Dr. Arora to do a more thorough health assessment of your eyes. This is useful for all patients, including our patients with certain medical conditions.

Myopia Therapy

Myopia (nearsightedness) progression is becoming a global epidemic amongst children and we believe in trying to help our patients with the best care possible. Dr. Arora will recommend the best type of in-house myopia therapy including myopia spectacle therapy, contact lenses, Ortho K, and atropine drops.
Axial length measurements and topography
Arora Optometry offers axial length measurements and topography which are instrumental in helping us assess your child’s eyes, especially when it comes to our myopia control programs. We are one of the few offices in the area to offer such services.

CHILDREN

It is very important to have your child’s eyes checked on an annual basis. Children tend not to complain of vision problems, but early detection can help prevent and treat conditions such as a lazy eye. Children under the age of twenty, are covered through OHIP for eye exams, once per year. It is recommended that children have their first eye exam at the age of 6 months.
ADULTS (BETWEEN THE AGES OF 20 AND 64)
Although OHIP does not cover routine eye exams for adults, it is still very important that adults have their eyes checked on a regular basis, at least once every two years. Most insurance health plans cover eye exams every two years. As part of a routine eye exam, adult patients are dilated, which means that drops are instilled in the eyes, which dilates the pupil and allows for a more thorough check-up of the eye, and especially the retina. We also highly recommend a retinal photograph be taken so as to more efficiently and accurately diagnose any current or pending eye conditions.
